Only in the movies

Recently, I have talked with my mother and my friends about the difference between the way movies portray love and the way love actually is in reality.

Only in the movies does the guy run after the girl. You know the cliche, he walks to her house 5 miles, uphill, in the rain. When he is at her door, he is drenched and sexy professing his love for her, telling her she is his soul-mate (even movies don't do this much anymore, they know better) or the only one for him and then they kiss or he proposes and they live happily ever after. HA! Men will never go through that much trouble. They want the woman to text first because putting their pride last is somehow going to spin the Earth out of its orbit. No one wants to fight for love. They won't even fight themselves and give in to contact you first. Unless they're crazy. You know, the ones you break up with and they stalk you at your job? Is there a middle ground guys!?!?

Only in the movies does the guy text or call first. You know that cliche as well. The girl is sitting on her bed, on the couch, on the bathroom floor and her phone rings. She picks up and it's him and he's got something dreamy to say. Or she is at her job and gets a bouquet of roses from the guy that she is arguing with or just broke up with. Ok, girls, I love you but this only happens in movies. Most guys won't even think about it. The break up will happen and their thoughts go to words like bar, beer, friends, gym, party, weekend and other women. They don't think cry, sad, empty, lonely, send her flowers, text her, fight for her, work things out, love, etc.

Only in the movies do couples solve their problems with kisses and make up sex. Guys, to be perfectly honest, when a woman is pissed her nether regions aren't thinking or working. That problem has to be addressed and solved somehow before she feels like she can be close to you again. (this is for all those neurotic, damaged girlfriends). Chances are the girl you are dating is not a virgin and she has had relationships before that have killed her on the inside. Your job, yes job, is to put those pieces together. You knew she was neurotic and damaged, cause guys trust me..we neurotic, damaged bitches TELL you this before as a warning.

I am not here to bash men, hate on them, or show off my lipstick feminism side. I guess I just don't understand you guys. When you love you don't know how to show it until it ends and then you come up with the most perfect shit to say or do? Did you ever think if you told us that "we're the woman for you" or that you "love us more than anyone more" or something you said after it was over, there wouldn't an end in sight anyway? Every woman wants to feel like a woman. Wanted, needed, cared for, protected, taken care of, love, respected, understood. She also doesn't want to stand still with you. She wants to take a house and make it a home, she wants to plan and do things couples do. She wants to feel like she is it for you and if she doesn't, she will often write you a long ass letter *wipes tear*, to tell you what she wants out of love and life. CHANCES ARE WE ARE WRITING YOU A GUIDE.

No woman wants to walk away from a relationship. She thinks she does, but she loves you so she will always think there is a chance. She will get brave and try to walk, but in a matter of two minutes she's going to miss your touch, your texts, your phone calls, your voice, your kiss and all the other cute or annoying stuff you do. If a woman is in love with you, she has accepted you for the dumb ass you are and wants YOU to be that one guy who gives her what she wants. She doesn't want to find someone else, but if you don't want to try to change or adapt the way you do things (not who you are or your character) then let her go.
